Symptom relief only
Symptomatic treatment means that the treatment is solely designed to remedy symptoms, such as sneezing, watery eyes or skin rash. There are a great many medicines available for the treatment of allergic symptoms. They prevent an allergy attack and can reduce allergic symptoms.
What symptomatic medicines are there?
Antihistamines are a frequently prescribed medicine nowadays. They are anti-allergic medicines that suppress the action of the histamines in the body. Doctors also prescribe medicines that contain hormones (corticosteroids) or what are known as bronchodilators. These medicines may offer effective relief, but do not remove the source of the allergic reaction.
