After a long wait, the first family have reportedly welcomed a six-month old Portuguese water dog into the White House. The puppy--named Bo after a nickname the girls had for Mrs. Obama's father--is a gift from senator Edward Kennedy to Malia and Sasha. During his election night victory speech, the President promised his daughters a family dog, but the choice for the first family pet was complicated by Malia's allergies. Experts say that while no dog is truly hypoallergenic, a Portuguese water dog may be more allergy-friendly than some other breeds.
