Production Facilities

Building State of the Art Production Facilities

In 1959 HAL Allergy started its business in a small laboratory in the centre of Haarlem. The first allergen extracts were manufactured with simple equipment, this entailed a lot of manual labour, but it was also ingenious and extremely inventive for the time. When the company grew to a mid-sized production company, the activities were moved to a bigger building also situated in Haarlem. In 2009 the then 50-year old company took a major step forward and moved to the Bio Science Park in Leiden.

The architecture of the building changed from an original fifties/sixties house to a modern state-of-the-art production facility.

In terms of technology, cutting-edge equipment was installed and the laboratory now utilises advanced equipment which was especially designed to fit the contours of the new building. All this allows HAL Allergy to further improve its future growth demands and continue on its mission to improve the quality of life by providing biopharmaceutical products for causal treatment.

Allergies

Allergy literally means 'altered reaction'. Allergies cause the body to 'overreact' to what are normally harmless substances. Examples are house dust mite allergy, hay fever and food allergy. The immune system regards certain substances as intruders, against which it must 'arm' itself, resulting in a hypersensitivity reaction which can take various forms.
